The Sajjangad Fort is located 9 km away from the city of Satara. Built in around the 10th Century, this is the point where Sri Samarth Ramdas Swami took a Samadhi. Sri Samarth Ramdas was the Guru of the Great Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The fort was earlier known as Aaswalayangad and Aaswalgad. The fort is 312 m high and spans over an area of an amazing 1525 sq. m. There are two lakes in the vicinity. The surrounding area is decorated during the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami which is celebrated with great enthusiasm here.
